Ours is sourced from the umpqua and rogue valleys of oregon where it grows well in the rich soils. However water based glue joints should be thoroughly dry before further machining to avoid subsequent sunken glue lines.

The older madrone wood can be a lovely salmon pink color and even darker near the center heartwood on very old trees. Our thick unfinished flooring has plank lengths up to 12 with an average of 5 in most items.

Arbutus tends to die slowly from the inside out as it ages often leaving part of the center hollow and the wood much darker than new growth. Madrone wood has by far the most varied colors from pale white to very dark brown almost black with pinks browns and reds in between. Madrone is an excellent turning wood and also takes stains and finishes well. Its rich orange red outer bark peels in large thin sheets to reveal a smooth satin sheen polished greenish silvery color.

Very durable more than 15 harder than red oak. We offer widths from 2 1 4 to 10. The 5 wide engineered flooring is available unfinished or prefinished with a natural satin oil that provides a low sheen without harmful chemicals. Pacific madrone wood has good strength properties.
