This camera uses a 1 3 v mercury battery to power its exposure meter.
Mat 124g battery.
Of course like all cameras from that era the yashica mat 124g took a 1 35v mercury battery.

Having only 12 frames to fill in a roll is also a positive thing for me because i can fill it up quickly then send it to develop.

If you have one of these instead of the 18awg wire indicated in the sketch use a single strand 12awg wire and strip off the insulation.

It has been fully tested and all mechanical functions perform well.
Use either mallory px 13b eveready epx 13 or equivalent.
When you roll the wire into a circle make it slightly.
The meter functions but we cannot guarantee accuracy.
Repace with a wein px635 which is the same voltage.
It has the film rewind shutter cooking handle and exposure number window and iso control dial.
Yashica mat vs rolleiflex.
A common complaint with used yashica mat 124 124g cameras is that that meter is inoperative.
The yashica mat 124 is the penultimate in a long line of medium format twin lens reflex tlr cameras produced by yashica and is clearly a copy of the esteemed rolleiflex tlr.
Thankfully the battery in yashica mat 124g only powers the light meter unlike my yashica electro.
